ABOUT
Kaleidoscope is an experimental personal publication. My goal is to challenge the narrative of having a personal journal. Taking my private thoughts, adding supporting text, and transforming them into a work of design with my own photography.
I designed this to balance rigid forms with the deeply personal content. I wanted true contrast between the journal-like text and the science-like design.
I aimed to take deeply personal thoughts and transform them into a publication that invites readers to explore the complexities of identity and navigate the intersection of authenticity and freedom.
Kaleidoscope, as a whole, examines the challenges, joys, and experiences of living with a stigmatized identity. A central theme is the “facade”—the necessity of presenting a faux version of oneself to gain approval, validation, or even survive in a world that often rejects difference. This protective facade, while essential at times, shows the battle between self-preservation and the desire for genuine self-expression.
